The Vatican's Political Council for Justice and Peace issued a report on Monday, October 24th which calls for a world authority to oversee the economy. Cardianal Appiah, President of the council state said, “The time has come to conceive of institutions with universal competence, now that vital goods shared by the entire human family are at stake, goods which the individual states cannot promote and protect by themselves, that is what pushed us.” This stance has caused some frustration in our household, as I have since refused to go to church. You see, I spend a lot of time on my blog and when I have the opportunity, on the radio bashing government for taking my money while concurrently chastising me for the "greed" required to earn it. I've been noticing lately that many of the services I have been attending are feeling the same way. Then the Vatican released this idiotic report. So, now we are all supposed to subjugate ourselves to this global authority to make sure that we greedy folks don't take too much of the pie. First off, I'm so tired of the stupid pie analogies. There is no damn pie! The pie analogy assumes that in order for me to succeed, someone else must fail. Maybe in the socialistic economies, but the free market doesn't work that way. There is enough to go around. A prime example is what we consider poor in this country. According to Heritage Foundation Research "The overwhelming majority of the poor have air conditioning, cable TV, and a host of other modern amenities. They are well housed, have an adequate and reasonably steady supply of food, and have met their other basic needs, including medical care. Some poor Americans do experience significant hardships, including temporary food shortages or inadequate housing, but these individuals are a minority within the overall poverty population." (1) (It comes with the raw statistics so you can verify for yourself). ![]() Left:poor housing in the U.S. Right: poor housing in Africa. I, in no way, mean to slight these individuals. This is what we in our society have deemed poverty. My point isn't that these people are in anyway bad, just that it'goes to show capitalism works. When we are doing so well, that we consider this poor, how can you condemn the system? Yet, we have socialists marching to tell us how evil we are. We have the President telling us how evil we are. And now, I'm apparently supposed to go spend my day off listening to a priest, who makes his living off of my donations, tell me how evil I am for my capitalist ways. Well, I'm sorry, but I'm done with that. I no longer have any tolerance for those who take what I have and then tell me I'm bad for having it in the first place. So, you don't like the way I earn money? Well then, you are welcome to see how well you do without my evil money. And to the Vatican......You-R-Wrong!
